On the easel –“ blues in their eyes” This picture started as a project for my clubs exhibition in Charnwood museum just before Christmas. The nation currently all appear to be off to see the terracotta army in London . This gave me the idea of police men holding a crowd back. The two guards reflect the terracotta army cold and unmoved. Whilst the crowd so full of life and youth consists of Bessie Smith (completed) Billie Holiday (to be far Left) and centre Janice Joplin Bessie died from blood loss after being refused access to an all white’s hospital Billie died penniless in a hospital bed under arrest with a police guard at the door Janice died of drugs drink and ROCK AND ROLL
